Spur Tree Introduces Oxtail Seasoning
Spur Tree Spices launched last Thursday its Jamaican Oxtail Seasoning — a rich blend of aromatic Jamaican spices — at the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA) Limited’s headquarters at 85a Duke Street, Kingston.
The idea to add yet another ‘all-in-one’ seasoning to the Spur Tree line came about after a request was made by the company’s US market, already familiar with the curry and jerk seasonings, who felt there was a need for an all-in-one oxtail seasoning. Thus began nine months of perfecting the recipe and taste tests, both locally and overseas. The result — as described by co-principal Dennis Hawkins — “a countryside oxtail that even I can make”. There’s more good news, like zero prep time which Hawkins believes will find favour with food service employees and housewives alike. Immediate past president of the JMA Doreen Frankson describes Spur Tree Jamaican Oxtail Seasoning as “an all-in-one homestyle delicious burst of flavour… you can’t get more Jamaican than this”. Chairman Caribbean Culinary Federation Bill Moore was also effusive in his praise for the product describing the oxtail seasoning as “an innovative and creative product that allows the user to achieve an excellent product in a consistent, cost effective and efficient way”. There was no disputing this as guests, following remarks by Spur Tree Spices CEO Mohan Jagnarine and JMA president Omar Azan, tantalised their taste buds with delectable morsels of oxtails prepared by Courtleigh Hotel and Suites commis chef Robert McLeish.
