Talk Up Yout: Ushering in a new era in Jamaican television
THIS new television show will be aired on Television Jamaica in January 2011 and is currently brought to you by National Baking Company in association with TVJ and the Jamaica Observer.
Emprezz Mullings, well known for her dynamic media presence in both television and radio and growing repute in the business arena, is responsible for the creation of this new and purposeful media product.
The show’s executive producers are Nadia Stanley and Emprezz Mullings of Stanley & Empress Productions.
Talk up Yout takes a look behind the smiles and frowns of our youth, and gives a listening ear to the mysteries which form their actions. The programme engages those affected with HIV, the sexually abused, the illiterate and many others.
The show focuses on their realities and as youth they discuss and share solutions and answers to the questions that youth watching the programme are facing; problems just like their own. Only then will we become more aware of the root of our youth issues.
Talk Up Yout finds the youths that are living the stories we hear about in the news. Some of the experiences are surprising, breathtaking and depressing, but no matter what, with no judgments, we gain deeper understanding and attempt to implement action toward positive change through the use of the information we gain.
Never before in Jamaica has there been a platform for young people to be honest about their deep-rooted problems, parenting issues, peer pressure and personal challenges. Never has a television show given young people the opportunity to seek and develop solutions to prevent the problems facing them from recurring.
It has been proven by many counsellors and psychologists that talking is therapeutic in the healing process. Jamaica’s culture, however, is to push our issues under the rug; well no more.
This show will allow young people to know that many are going through the same issues that they do. As for parents who think they know their children, and how their children feel, Talk Up Yout will make you think again.
Jamaica is facing very serious issues and we can’t forget how this affects our youth. The youth are our future and we need to hear their problems in their own words, so we can best decide how to help them become more productive adults!
Talk Up Yout will be aired on TVJ every Tuesday starting January 25 at 6:00 and repeating on Wednesdays at 11:00 pm.
