China to give Guyana US$7.5M for unknown projects
GEORGETOWN, Guyana – China says it will give Guyana US$7.5 million for projects to improve the quality of life for people in the South American nation.
The announcement comes nearly two weeks after Guyana said it would speed up the citizenship process for Chinese nationals to reduce the number of bribes being paid for work permits.
Finance Minister Ashni Singh says he will meet with Chinese officials to talk about how the money will be used.
The agreement was signed late Monday.
China has promised to fund other projects, including the purchase of two river ferries expected to start operating next year.
