Frome, ‘Tacius’ in Rural Area netball quarters
CLARENDON PARK, Clarendon — The quarter-finalists in the ISSA/Digicel Rural Area schoolgirl netball competitions have been decided with Frome Technical, Tacius Golding and Titchfield High grabbing the last qualifying spots in the Senior League.
Westmoreland-based Frome stopped deCartaret College, 26-16, on Tuesday to clinch the runner-up spot from Group One, but will now face an uphill task in their quarter-final match-up against defending All-Island champions Holmwood Technical, who thrashed Dinthill, 49-11, to take first place in Group Four with a perfect record.
Tacius Golding, who beat off the likes of former champions Edwin Allen for second place in Group Three, set up a date with Manning’s School in the last eight after hammering Porus High, 52-16, at Clarendon Park.
Herbert Morrison took group honours with a comfortable 31-19 win against Oracabessa High, and will now brace for their next challenge against Glenmuir High, who went down 18-23 to Manning’s in their top-of-the-table Group Two clash.
Denbigh and Titchfield complete the line-up.
In the Junior League, early qualifiers Holmwood, Denbigh, Glenmuir and Herbert Morrison were joined by Anchovy, Bellefield, Manning’s and Titchfield in the round of eight.
