Wadadah make winning start in Super League
BAMBOO, Hanover — Former champions Wadadah opened their account in the Jamaica Football Federation’s (JFF) Captain’s Bakery Western Confederation Super League yesterday with an away 2-0 win over Hanover’s Bamboo FC.
The brothers Curtis and Raphael Palmer both netted for the St James-based club, once in either half, as they joined four other clubs who scored wins in the opening round.
Granville lead on goal difference after a 6-2 thrashing of Exidos on Tuesday, followed by Seba United, who beat Harmony 3-0, with Catherine Hall and Wadadah next, followed by Frome.
The competition continues Sunday with six games, including Frome hosting Seba United, Granville at home to Catherine Hall and the Hanover ‘derby’ between Mt Pelier and Bamboo.
Meanwhile, Marl Road became the third qualifier for the second round of the St James FA Captain’s Bakery Knock-out yesterday after beating Champion FC 3-0 at the UDC field.
Marl Road, who joined Norwood Strikers and Seaview FC, led 2-0 at half-time with goals from Ricardo Smith and Lincoln Brown, while Wayon Pinnock added a third early in the second half.
Norwood had eliminated Copperwood 2-1 on Monday, while Seaview beat Abes 4-0 on Tuesday.
The first round ends this afternoon with Kempshot FC and Reggae Youths meeting at the UDC field.
The draw for the second round that will include Rose Mount FC as well as the 12 Senior League teams will also be made today.
