Trelawny Football honours top achievers
COOPERS PEN, Trelawny — Carlington Johnson was a triple awardee at last week’s presentation and awards ceremony of the Trelawny Football Association held at Breezes Resort and Spa Trelawny.
Johnson was named the Most Valuable Player for both the National Rums of Jamaica Major League and the Business House League where he represented champions Harmony FC and the National Water Commission respectively.
Johnson, who is representing Harmony in the Western Confederation Super League, was also the leading scorer in the Business House League with five goals.
Harmony, who also won the President’s Cup and mid-season titles, took the Major League and was promoted as Ricardo Reid won the award for the leading scorer with 17 while Duanvale won the Fair Play award.
Preston FC won the Division One as Travis Watson copped the MVP award and Rio Bueno the Fair Play award while Premier League campaigners Village United win the KO for the fifth straight year.
Flames FC won the Under-15 competition while Rio Bueno were the Under 17 champions.
Brenton Ebanks, Nicholas Anderson and Wade Nugent were recognised as the outstanding referees of the season.
Special Awards were made to three veteran referees for long service- Irvin Vernon, Denton Brown and Carlton Young; Troy Smith of Village was recognised for representing the country at the national senior level.
Awards were also made to Dean Innis, Hernie Brown and Cassman Williams for services to the executive.
