Milk River, Rock River clash in Clarendon KO
CHAPELTON, Clarendon – Major League heavyweights Milk River United and Rock River FC will come face-to-face today at Clarendon College as the Claro/Clarendon Knock-out football competition continues with two games.
In the other match, Free Town and Wood Hall, who will both be campaigning in the Major League this season, are down to meet at the Bodles Community Centre.
Both games will begin at 3:00 pm.
At Clarendon College, Milk River, runners-up in last season’s Captain’s Bakery Major League, will start as favourites to Rocker River, who finished a place behind, after producing the only winner in two meetings between the two last year.
Meantime, Coffalls FC booked their place in the first-round of the competition with a 3-0 penalty shoot-out win over Cherry Tree on Tuesday, following a 3-3 stalemate after full and extra-time in their second-leg tie.
Coffalls had taken a 2-1 first-leg lead into the game, but Cherry Tree rallied for the same margin of victory in the return-leg. They could, however, not contain their nerves in the shoot-out.
In another game on Tuesday at Gayle, Gayle FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Ebony Stars, who will be the happier of the two teams seen that they have scored a valuable away goal.
