St Andrew register fifth win in school basketball
ST Andrew Technical High School scored their fifth consecutive win of the ISSA Southern Conference Schools senior basketball competition after beating highly-fancied St George’s College 58-55 at Spanish Town Road yesterday.
Ricardo Greaves led the way for St Andrew with 20 points, 18 rebounds, seven blocks and seven steals, while Lamount Lindsay supported with a top score of 21 points for the winners.
St Andrew Technical now sit atop Group Two with maximum 10 points, while St George’s were losing their first game in three matches.
In other games, Hydel turned back Meadowbrook 73-69, thanks to 32 points and 18 rebounds from Paul Richards and 17 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals from Jervis Hamilton.
Meadowbrook’s Corey Anderson was the game’s topscorer with 35 points.
In the Under-16 competition, St George’s turned the table on St Andrew 67-24 to claim their fourth consecutive win of the season. Shawn Graham led the scoring for the North Street school with 23 points.
At Heroes Circle, Tivoli High turned back hosts Wolmer’s 55-48 with a game-high 15 points coming from Donald Hamilton and 13 points and seven rebounds from Jordon Scott.
Kerron Alexander was Wolmer’s top-scorer with 14 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Yogeros Smith with 13 points.
Meanwhile, Meadowbrook also turned the table on their junior counterparts Hydel, with a 56-37 win in that game.
Akeem Crossfield was Meadowbrook’s topscorer with 17 points, 15 rebounds and nine blocks, while Hydel’s Bryan Martin posted a game-high 23 points with 20 rebounds.
In the day’s other game, St Jago eased past Innswood 54-25.
Over in the Northern Conference Old Harbour defeated Bog Walk 74-28 through 24 points from Bryan Roberts and 15 points from Remar Walker for their third straight win of the campaign.
