Little dynamo – Remona Brown, administrative assistant
PACKED into Remona Brown’s 5ft, 4″ frame is a woman with a fierce loyalty to her company and its success.
It is little wonder, therefore, that she should have been selected as the number one performer by the team at Environmental Solutions Limited (ESL), the Kingston-based environmental consultancy firm where she works as an administrative assistant.
“Remona joined the staff at Environmental Solutions Ltd as our receptionist in 2005. Her hard work, drive and dedication were evident to all, resulting in her promotion to secretary and now administrative assistant. She is generally a very pleasant person and works well with staff at all levels in the organisation,” Sharonmae Shirley, ESL’s consulting principal, told Career & Education, praising Brown.
“She is a quick learner and provides excellent service to our technical and senior members of staff. We have watched her mature as she took on her job assignments striving to produce her best at all times. We are proud of her achievements and wish for her continued growth in her career,” added the woman, who is also ESL’s director of environmental services.
“The board of directors and staff of Environmental Solutions Limited congratulate Remona on being our top performer for 2010,” Shirley said further.
Brown, in turn, had high praise for the team at ESL.
“I love this particular career because it helps me to be an organised individual and a team player. I appreciate and enjoy this career path now more that ever since working at Environmental Solutions Ltd. They have taught me professionalism, how to be an excellent team player and how to appreciate and care for the environment,” said the St Hugh’s High School and Holy Childhood Extension past student, who recently completed an advanced computer course at the Portmore Community College.
“I always place emphasis on simple things such as the three Rs — reduce, reuse and recycle. You have to practise what you preach, as I myself include these practices wherever I go.
Meanwhile, she is ecstatic about her company’s choice.
“I feel great, I feel wonderful. Words cannot explain. This is just the happiest day of my life, which I owe to my family at ESL. Hard work really does pay off,” said the 31-year-old mother of one.
At the same time, she admitted that she feels like a top performer.
“Yes, I do (feel like a top performer). We are all top performers here. Everybody works extremely hard here. For them to recognise my work, it makes me feel good. I really do work hard. I try to do my best,” she said.
