Cavalier win 6-1; Aug Town, UWI stumble
SECOND-PLACED August Town and third-placed UWI lost ground on leaders Cavalier FC in the race for the Claro/KSAFA Super League title following a defeat and a draw, respectively, on Saturday.
August Town went down 0-2 to Rockfort at Rockfort, while UWI were held to a 0-0 draw on Neville ‘Bertis’ Bell’s return to former team Duhaney Park.
As a result, the defending champions moved to 19 points and strecthed their lead to five over August Town after their 6-1 mauling of Real Mona.
Donovan Alvaanga (23rd, 26th and 86th) led the way for Cavalier. Fabian Swaby chipped in with a brace, while Patrick Edmundson also scored.
At Rockfort, Henrique Green (22th) and Twaine Winter (25th) scored three minutes apart in the first half to lead Rockfort past the high-flying Auust Town.
August Town stayed second on 14 points, but Rockfort and Santos moved within a point of the demoted Premier League side.
At Duhaney Park, the home team had the better of their fancied opponents and wasted two great chances through Jahmar Campbell and Renardo Lee in the first half.
In the second, the hosts came close to scoring through Dwayne Bryan, Lee and Leonard Gooden, but the visitors held out for a point.
The result lifted Duhaney Park (four points) out of the relegation zone, but only on goal difference over Real Mona.
