100 Most Invited part II
The stack of invitations grew this week even as the party season hits first gear. We’re concluding our two-part feature with more socialites and celebs who will make this year’s guest lists complete!
Adrian Elcock and Latoya Wade
Lighting is integral to any function or home décor, so it’s no surprise that Adrian Elcock, managing director of Exclusive Lighting & Electrical Supplies in Barbados, and the lovely Latoya Wade will be quite busy this season, whether it’s on The Rock or in his native ‘Bim’.
Allison Shaw
As the daughter of Finance Minister Audley Shaw, the lovely Allison Shaw is sure to be invited to everyone’s do… after all, she could put in a good word with dad to have him impart some personal finance tips.
Andre Hylton
Andre’s Auto Supplies boss and Jamaica Classic Car Club co-founder Andre Hylton is always on the party scene, but hey, sometimes it’s for a good cause — he’s a budding politico and a Rotarian, too!
Anup and Bina Chandiram
They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but on The Rock it’s the ‘diamond dealers’ Bijoux darlings Anup and Bina Chandiram who are the truly sought-after BFFs.
Bruce and Nicola Bicknell
Tank-Weld director Bruce Bicknell is seldom seen out, so naturally heads turn whenever he and his lovely wife Nicola — a perfect pairing of industry and art — make an entrance.
Bruce and Suzanne Bowen
It helps to have Scotia Jamaica head honcho Bruce Bowen on your side, and it doesn’t hurt, too, that he’s always got gorgeous wife Suzanne by his.
Carlysle and Diane Hudson
Mother’s director Carlysle Hudson and his gorgeous wife Diane (here with daughter Whitney) always wear radiant smiles whenever they’re out, and they’re sure to show the DJ lots of love, too, as the couple is quite fond of dancing — think Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.
Chris Berry and Dr Patricia Yap
Mayberry Investments Principal Chris Berry is the top shareholder in his family-run financial service company… and he’s got a completely tricked-out yacht. Inviting him to your do might mean you actually have a chance to stylishly occupy the deck and pick up skincare tips from his wife, ace dermatologist Dr Patricia Yap. There is, too, the impressive house that’s being constructed.
Chris Blackwell and Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange
From Island Records to Blackwell Rum, the elusive Chris Blackwell is successful in most things he undertakes. His longtime friend, Entertainment Minister ‘Babsy’, has musicians on speed dial. Simply put, these entertainment heavyweights know how to bring the celeb factor to any event.
Colin Hylton
He’s stylish and he knows how to throw down in the kitchen, that’s what makes chef Colin Hylton so endearing.
Kingsley Cooper and Romae Gordon
Because everybody wants first dibs on front-row seats at Caribbean Fashion Week, Pulse directors Kingsley Cooper and Romae Gordon continue to make the grade.
Mark Croskery and Kibebe Johnston
Stocks & Securities Limited President & CEO Mark Croskery knows money: what to do with it, where to put it and how to accrue it. His belle, Kibebe Johnston, managing director of Bar Code bar service, is just as money-savvy. Look for them at all those parties where talking stocks, bonds and booze are a welcome respite from the week’s workload.
Danville and Sharon Walker
Danville Walker, seen here with his wife Sharon, sits at the head of Jamaica Customs; however, given his no-nonsense approach to cleaning things up, inviting him to the season’s fab dos will not translate into favourable treatment on the wharves.
David and Heather Goldson
David and Heather Goldson are a fun-loving couple who know how to have a good time wherever they go, whether it’s grooving to Babyface slow jams at Jazz or styling on the red carpet at the recent Bill Clinton address.
Debra Lopez-Spence
Debra Lopez-Spence controls the Scotiabank Private Client Group. Need we say more?
EG Hunter and Nesta Claire Hunter
There’s no denying that those on the cocktail circuit are dying to know the real reason behind the non-renewal of NWC boss EG Hunter’s contract. Not to be outdone, his attorney wife Nesta Claire Hunter makes news all on her own — she’s got the goods on Jamerican politico Shahine Robinson and is the daughter of JLP MP and attorney-at-law Ernie Smith. Talk about ‘party’ politics.
Dr Ernest Madu and Dr Dainia Baugh
They’re both doctors, have international access, and are this year’s Style Couple of the Year — Heart Institute of the Caribbean directors Dr Ernest Madu and his wife Dr Dainia Baugh definitely have a sense of occasion. If you’re not, btw, on their guest list come November 19, turn the lights down at home so the neighbours think you’re out!
Jeremy and Nina Harding
Jeremy Harding is credited as a star maker so guests at any event should find that interesting, to the say the least. His mum Marigold Harding is the new St Andrew Custos and he and wife Nina (who always hits the right style notes) continue to dote on their two young children… interesting convo pieces, right?
Harold Brady
The controversial legal mind Harold Brady (seen here with his sister Kay Brady Brown) will no doubt make many guest lists this season… unless, of course, you’re daft. I mean, if you know what I know…
Ian Moore
Sacked as chairman of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica earlier this year, Ian Moore — seen here with his lovely wife Rosie — will no doubt still find favour on guest lists this season… it’s called winning the government bid for the LNG consortium and making many green with envy.
Jean Wright and Norman Wright, QC
With her bubbly personality and his impeccable styling, it’s little wonder that Jean and Norman Wright are socially in demand.
Nicholas Scott and Kaili McDonnough-Scott
Musson exec Nicholas Scott and his journalist-socialite wife Kaili are everywhere… look for him talking shop and her styling in a chic buy.
Karen Neita and Nevada Powe
If you manage to get these two — Karen Neita and Nevada Powe — to grace your event you know you’re definitely on the intellectual and style radar.
Kenny Benjamin
Guardsman Group boss Kenny Benjamin seldom leaves his own epicentre, but when he does, rest assured that he’ll be the centre of yours.
Lennox Lewis and Violet Chang
They’re the couple everyone loves to invite, for with his easy charm and her stunning beauty and equally fab personality Lennox and Violet Lewis will make the party that much more special.
Leonora Rueda
Mexico’s maven on The Rock, Ambassador Leonora Rueda swans effortlessly from one event to the next with that dazzling smile. Little wonder that she’s on everyone’s guest list.
Thalia and Captain Mike Lyn
Honorary Consul to Thailand and Island Grill boss Thalia Lyn and hubby, retired Captain Mike Lyn, bring the kind of ease that adds to the appeal of any event.
Marcus James
Access Financial Services boss Marcus James is certainly proud of the 205 per cent increase in net profit ($35.2 million) his company posted last quarter, and we’re sure he’ll be invited to all the fab dos in an effort to have him share his success story.
Mark McIntosh
Portland Holdings exec Mark McIntosh is a new dad, so we reckon he’s just waiting to share that wallet-sized photo of baby Savannah at the next event … that and the next major transaction, of course.
Mark Shields
Former top cop-turned-security expert Mark Shields is used to enjoying life… one party at a time.
Marlene Malahoo Forte and Justice Ian Forte
The power couple status of legal luminaries Marlene Malahoo-Forte and Justice Ian Forte makes them regular party bystanders … which host wouldn’t want the law on his or her side?
Melanie and Phillip ‘Chunky’ Schwapp
As the daughter of Deputy PM Dr Ken Baugh, Melanie Schwapp has long been a style staple on the social scene. Add her charismatic hubby ‘Chunky’ to the mix and the equation is amplified times 10! But the latest thing is: “Every story has three sides,” so spot them at the next ultra-fab do to find out.
Michele Rollins
Whether it’s in Kingston or the second city, Michele Rollins is on everyone’s guest list. The gorgeous hotelier is known for her warm and inviting smile.
Dr Nigel Clarke
Oxford-educated math whiz Dr Nigel Clarke is suddenly on the radar. For, having served as the moderator for the recently staged ‘Embracing Our Humanity’ with former United States prez Bill Clinton, hosts aplenty will be eager to discover the true extent of his access.
Odette and Godfrey Dyer
All’s well that ends well and ‘Mr MoBay’ Godfrey Dyer and his perpetually posh wife Odette will be very much a part of the social landscape in the island’s two cities this party season.
Peter Bunting
Ladies adore him and men wish they were him; from finance to politics Peter Bunting is set on reclaiming his title as The Anointed One. Plus, the US$ 5.5 million his Proven Investments has acquired in just seven months makes for a hot topic on a cool night at any event.
Sophia MaxBrown
With two boutiques and as the go-to girl on men’s styling, in addition to the MoBay boutique hotel, it’s easy to see how Sophia MaxBrown continues to be a regular at all the season’s best soirées.
Storm Saulter and Sarah Silvera
He, a film producer/director on the ascent and she a budding singer… it’s called A-list appeal.
Michelle and Gregory Mayne
Michelle and Gregory Mayne (seen here with Michelle’s daughter Danielle Bovell) are known to have an affinity for closing deals and socialising and something tells us that this season will be no different.
Racquel and Jimmy Moss-Solomon
She makes people beautiful and he makes beautiful music and writes a lot of common sense, so having Racquel and Jimmy Moss-Solomon around is bound to be a pleasure for any host.
Paul and Sue Hoo
Supreme Ventures boss Paul Hoo and wife Sue aren’t seen out often, and getting them to your event means either of two things: (1) it’s an ultra-exclusive affair or (2) it’s a Jamaica Observer event.
PB and Jennifer Scott
Musson Group Chairman PB Scott and his fabulous wife Jennifer are a rare sight on the social landscape, so having them at your party would be deemed a major coup.
Michael and Melanie Subratie
When they’re not showing their pearly whites or demonstrating their hearts of gold, philanthropists Michael and Melanie Subratie enjoy a fab night out. And if you’re really lucky, she might even bring her big bro PB along for good measure.
Nicola and Peter Melhado
Their devotion to their children and the activities of the American International School of Kingston is simply admirable… and it doesn’t hurt that Peter and Nicola Melhado are quite the life of the party!
Roxanne Shields
As hairstylist to Kingston’s fabellas and a noted party girl herself, Mandeville-native Roxanne Shields will enjoy the season’s best dos (pardon the pun) in both her hometown as well as in the city.
Sean Paul and Jodi Stewart
They’re the Jay Z and Beyoncé of The Rock, but better looking by far. What would a party be without Jodi Stewart’s playful sass and Sean’s easy-chill vibe?
Wayne Chen
For we all would like to share in the laughs as businessman Wayne Chen recounts how he lost and regained his visa! And how his fab wife Diana dealt with the stress of it all.
Marie Simone (Sima) Hall and Paul Smith
With her brand-new Face Place location and the expansion and success of his entrepreneurial endeavours, there’s much to glean from this fab couple.
Ras Kassa
This in-demand, well-travelled music video/ film director would add a certain je ne sais quoi to any stylish gathering.
Odessa Chambers
She might be Jimmy Cliff’s daughter but this feisty Brit on the Rock has charted an impressive course in public relations and management consultancy and is great fun in any circle.
Susie Berry
The face behind Whisky Productions, Susie Berry constantly seeks new ways to capture the imagination of the style set. That’s right, from staging Nobu at Strawberry Hill to Embracing Our Humanity with 42nd US prez Bill Clinton there’s no denying that she’s suddenly everyone’s must-have guest.
