Save the trees
Marigold Harding (left), Custos Rotolorum for the parish of St Andrew and deputy chairman, board of management, Natural History Museum of Jamaica (NHMJ) presents a copy of Endemic Trees of Jamaica to Marilyn Headley, conservator of forests at the launch of the publication on October 26 by the Natural History Museum of Jamaica. The publication documents critical information on over 300 trees endemic to Jamaica, that is, about 10 per cent of Jamaica’s flowering plants. The project to research, do fieldwork and produce this book was executed by the Botany Department of the NHMJ funded by the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica to the tune of $5 million. The project was administered by the Natural History Society of Jamaica.
