CASE, UTech, PCC notch Intercol wins
College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE) squeezed past Bethlehem Moravian College 2-1 in an Inter-collegiate Division One match in Portland last Thursday.
Bethlehem’s Aberdene Mitchell was on target in the first minute, but the scores were level after an own goal in the 20th, while CASE’s Clinton Clarke sealed the issue with a goal in the 61st.
Bethlehem took the lead in the first minute when they got a free-kick just after kick-off. Andre Campbell went low and custodian Seon Lawrence had difficulty holding on as Marlon Hylton pounced on the ball and Mitchell tipped into the open.
CASE bounced back as they attacked through Trevor Burrell, Colin Smalling and Azani Williams, but found Dale Brooks, Jason Isaacs and Kemal Blackwood hard to penetrate.
Bethlehem countered through Hylton, Mitchell and Andrae Campbell who was off target.
CASE launched a number of attacks and were rewarded when Bethlehem wilted under pressure. They got the equaliser from a Kevin Bryan corner which a defender headed past ‘keeper Braham Wesley.
CASE lost Azani Williams shortly thereafter due to an ankle injury as the half ended 1-1.
CASE came out attacking in the second half and were rewarded when Trevor Burrell passed to Clarke, who fired past goalie Wesley in the 61st for a 2-1 lead.
