Cocktail Chic
Former US President William ‘Bill’ Clinton jetted to The Rock on Monday to give an address on ‘Embracing our common humanity’ at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, which also hosted the cocktail reception. Our Get The Look team spotted a few stylish ladies at the event who epitomised ‘cocktail chic’.
Here are some fab looks you can try for your next cocktail event.

Kibebi Johnston – An elegant chignon
Kibebi Johnston opted for understated elegance with side-swept bangs, a chic chignon and light make-up — just a little blush, eyeshadow and flesh-toned lipgloss did the trick.
Why it works:
By wearing her hair pulled back, she not only draws more attention to her face — which her lightly applied make-up highlights nicely — but also allows her lace dress to be the main focus of her look.
Lezanne Azan – A sleek blow-out
For a cocktail event, a black ensemble screams sophistication. Lezanne Azan pairs her tuxedo-inspired suit design with dramatic eyes and a sleek blow-out for a nice, minimalist effect.
Why it works:
By keeping her accessories simple, she allows the details in her outfit to ‘pop’. Her sleek blow-out also complements her suit perfectly by pulling the eyes downward. And we’re loving how she adds some pizzazz to the look with dramatic lashes and fresh-faced, natural make-up.
Sandra Gregory – Wildly romantic
‘Hair’s’ the thing, we just couldn’t resist snapping Sandra Gregory as she made her way into the event sporting wildly romantic, curly ringlets piled atop her head and falling gently in tendrils framing her face. Ultra-feminine pink eyeshadow and make-up complete the look for a playful yet classy effect.
Why it works:
By wearing her untamed curls in a high ponytail she creates an effortlessly romantic, girlish effect, with just the right amount of sophistication and rebelliousness incorporated. She also heightens the appeal with soft, pink lips, blush and eyeshadow for an overall rosy glow. This, coupled with her glamorous single-shoulder ruched dress, is undeniably sexy.
Dr Renée Rattray – Of-the-moment topknot
Renée Rattray oozes sophistication by complementing her fabulous draped dress with an of-the-moment topknot and dark lipstick, proving that for an occasion of this nature, the ‘less is more’ approach is always the best way to go.
Why it works:
Renée is wearing very little make-up, save for dark lipstick, which adds instant glamour and a bit of edge to the elegant topknot she sports.
It is important to make a statement with your hair and make-up when wearing outfits in plain colours, especially in white to avoid a banal look, which Renée expertly executes.
