Car theft ring mastermind charged
THE alleged mastermind of a stolen motor vehicle ring has turned himself on Tuesday, following an appeal by police.Related story:Cop charged for fraud, receiving stolen goods
Twenty-three-old Andre Luton allegedly operated the ring along with some members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).
The suspect, accompanied by his attorney, reported to the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID) and was subsequently interviewed and charged with conspiracy to defraud, receiving stolen property and larceny of motor vehicle.
He remains in police custody and is to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Constable Miguel Pine, who was arrested two weeks ago in relation to the same incident, was taken before the same court and remanded in custody.
Investigations continue as the OCID says more arrests are possible.
