Jamaica — Gerard Hanson’s Home From Home
The Revolution Gallery on Lady Musgrave Road will make way on Thursday October 28 for the opening of an exhibition by Gerard Hanson, aptly titled Jamaica: Home From Home.
A British painter of Jamaican descent, Hanson now calls the island his home, having relocated to Jamaica in May 2009 and pursuing a full-time career as an artist since then. Jamaica: Home From Home is a collection of his work spanning the past 3 years — images of life in his new ‘home’, as seen from his memory, through his eyes and conveyed on canvas. Consisting of some twenty to twenty-five pieces, the exhibition will feature a combination of paintings and manipulated photographs.
This will be Hanson’s second major show since the exhibition Jamaica Was My Father’s Home two years ago at the Devon House’s Devonshire.
Previously postponed from a May opening date, the exhibition will run from October 28 to November 11, 2010 at the Revolution Gallery located at 44 Lady Musgrave Road, Kingston 10.
