Caribbean Airlines, Air Jamaica integrate Toronto operations
Passengers flying on Air Jamaica from the Lester B Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada, will be required to check in at the Caribbean Airlines counter in Terminal Three.
Caribbean Airlines spokesperson Laura Asbjornsen said yesterday that the move was necessary as the two airlines consolidate their operations in destinations across North America.
Asbjornsen acknowledged that the move was one of the cost-cutting and energy-saving measures to be undertaken by Caribbean Airlines and Air Jamaica as they integrate their operations.
In future it is expected that check-in would be done at one venue at airports where Air Jamaica and Caribbean Airlines operate flights.
On May 1, 2010, Caribbean Airlines took over the operations of the cash-strapped Air Jamaica and its seven international routes.
The Air Jamaica operation, with a fleet of six, serves at present four destinations in the USA-New York, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Philadelphia. It also serves Grenada and the Bahamas.
