Ombrè make-up
Our Get The Look team has been helping our readers translate 2010 runway trends over the past two weeks. This week’s look first debuted at the Emanuel Ungaro Autumn/Winter Ready To Wear show last year, but recently resurfaced on a few runways at the just-capped fashion weeks. Though we like the look, we know that some of the more conservative among us will shy away from it. So we decided on festive, patriotic colours, and partnered with Sharon Wint, director of Face Forward Cosmetics & Swimwear (which also offers a course in professional make-up artistry) to show you how to tailor this hot new trend for everyday wear.

For the eyes:
Sharon first uses Smashbox foundation and setting powder over the eye for a smooth surface.
She then uses Smashbox lid primer over the entire lid to keep the eyeshadows in place.
For the brow bone Smashbox light eyeshadow trios in Megapixel and Microfilm are used for a highlighting effect.
After which she moves to the inner corners of the eyes, using a combination of Smashbox 24K and Flori Roberts in Shiny Gold from the inner corner to the centre of the eyelids.
Smashbox Zoom and Microfilm are then combined to create a nice green shade, which she takes from the centre of the eyelid to the outer corner of the eyes.
Then for the eyelid crease, she uses a basic flat, dark shade from the Smashbox Microfilm trio to create a balance between the bright colours.
Smashbox Limitless liquid liner is then applied to the eyelids before two coats of Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara is applied.
Smashbox Photo Op eye brightener and a Smashbox dark concealer is applied under the eyes to highlight the under-eye area, which completes the look.
For the lips:
Smashbox D2 liquid foundation is applied to the lips to hold the colour in place.
Sharon then lines both lips with a lipliner — Smashbox Palm Beach is used for the lower lip, and a Mauve lipliner in MUD (Makeup Designory) is used to line the upper lip.
Smashbox Sublime lipstick is then applied to the upper lip, while IMAN Velvet and Impetuous lipglosses are combined for a bronzy, sexy effect. Ms Wint explains to our team that the upper lip is kept matte in a simple colour close to that of the lower lip colour for a conservative, ready-to-wear look.
