Nyammings and Jammings celebrates brilliant 10th
MONTEGO BAY, ST James — Patrons received a musical treat, featuring popular gospel and secular artistes during the entertainment section that brought the curtains down on the 10th annual staging of Nyammings and Jammings on Hero’s Day.
Most of the performers were well received by patrons who danced, waved and applauded, in total oblivion to the mud which covered the surface of the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre, as a result of the heavy rains which generally lash this section of the island at this time of the year.
The venue proved to be a good stomping ground for high-riding singjay I-Octane, who three months ago, stole the show during the Dancehall Night at Reggae Sumfest.
The dreadlocked performer who cut into the gospel section, in an effort to work early in order to catch his flight, did not disappoint his fans despite his premature entry.
He reeled off a number of his hits including ‘Mama You Alone’, ‘Lose a Friend’, ‘Push Man Around’ among others.
Veteran female crooner Gem Myers scored well with the mostly youhful audience with songs such as ‘One Man Girl’, ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘Baby Be True’.
Another sensational performance came from Food Kartel who whet the appetite of his audience with servings of ‘Brown Stew Fish’, ‘Thirteen Corn’, ‘Whey Me Cook It Inna’.
Performers that were also warmly received were Medikal, Rising Stars winner Dalton Harris and runner-up Kamalie.
The gospel section was highlighted by a mature performance from Singing Jewels, a group of three young girls.
Ann Marie Laing, Ryan Mark, Sharon Joseph and Kavel also did themselves proud during the gospel segment.
