Model Aspiration… Catalogue
Caribbean Model Search 2010 plus-size winner Tara Wright closes the feature with simple knits to highlight her curves. While some common styles in knits are worn very close to the body, knits are great for making form-fitting garments that just skim curves, or even create some volume. For Tara, one look (the floor-length dress) highlighted all her curves, while the second sought to balance her figure. With a smaller top (in proportion to her hips), volume on top helped to balance her figure.
As you will see the batwing dress is versatile, as it can also be worn as a blouse. We provide steps below for this look.
Steps:
1. Cut dress front and back.
2. Join the front to the back at the sides and shoulders.
3. Finish seams and hem
*The neckline may be finished with facing, piping or a simple hem.
Variations may be created for a longer or shorter dress, or a blouse. With this design, some detail was added to the sleeves by gathering.
Congrats Tara, and good luck!
