OMG! It’s ASD!
Ayanna Dixon
With her almond-shaped eyes, flawless skin, svelte figure and graceful presence people often surmise that Ayanna Dixon is a model… and she actually is, (our fashion archives will prove it) however, her real passion is designing. The truth is her inveterate love affair with fashion started at a very early age. Her mother, Beti Campbell is a textile designer, and as a child Ayanna was always encouraged to style her own outfits and contribute to the design process. Her passion later grew during her high school years as she found herself constantly creating fashion sketches which she sold to her peers, and she even designed the dress she wore to her graduation ball. She later took a course at the Edna Manley College before going on to The Art Institute in New York to study fashion design. After interning with industry greats like Monique Leshman, Donna Karan International and Marchesa, she returned home to pursue her dreams despite a tempting job offer as an assistant designer at Rockawear, where she did a few styling jobs and even styled an artiste appearing on BET’s 106 & Park TV show. And so A.D. Swimwear and ASD designs – which currently features T-shirts, greeting cards and will later expand to handbags and purses, was born. We reckon you might be as impressed as we are.
