Seafood Festival Set to Sizzle at Port Royal
For most people, Port Royal is remembered as “the wickedest city in the world”, a place so decadent that its reputation later inspired the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. However, the Grace Tropical Rhythms Port Royal Seafood Festival has sought to capitalise on the town’s rich folklore. Set for Heroes’ Monday on October 18, at the Port Royal Football Field, the three-year-old seafood festival promises “a seriously good time”.
“We will be having fantastic performances by Tarrus Riley, Busy Signal, Tifa, I-Octane, One Third and many others,” said Jennifer ‘Jenny Jenny’ Small, one of the organisers of the event. “This year the seafood festival and the Jamaica Flour Mills will be launching the High School Scholarship for a needy Port Royal student,” Small added, noting that among this year’s attractions is the celebrity Jack Mackerel Cook-Off which will feature Port Royal MP Phillip Paulwell, businessman Wayne Chen, comedienne Elva and Digicel communications exec Donovan White among others. Admission this year is J$600 for adults, while children under 12 will be freely admitted.
