Techie’s Night Out
Several technology purveyors are slashing prices to mark their participation in this year’s staging of Fashion’s Night Out, which takes place on Friday, September 10.
Leading the charge is local telecoms giant Digicel which is set to discount eight of its handsets — with the promise of including more items as the weeks pass — across participating cities and towns.
Though the mobile company is still working on ways to ensure that their customers get the best deals possible during FNO, Digicel Head of Marketing Donovan White was excited to share some of its offerings.
“We are pleased to be on board as the exclusive telecommunications sponsor for the second year,” White told Thursday Tech.
“Last year, we received overwhelming response and support from our customers in Kingston on our handset offers,” White said, lauding this newspaper for its vision.
“We are delighted that the Jamaica Observer has extended this highly anticipated event to include other parts of the island, which provides us the opportunity to deliver value to even more customers through our fantastic handset offers,” White added.
Digicel will be offering discounts at its Kingston, Montego Bay and Portmore locations on these handsets: Coral C255 – J$1,550; Nokia 1616 – $2,250; Nokia 2330 – $5, 550; Nokia 2720 – $7,250; Nokia 2690 – $8,050; Nokia 5130 – $12,850; Nokia C3 – $14,850 and the Nokia E72 -$37,850.
Customers who shop during FNO will also receive $300 call credit upon purchasing any one of these phones and $400 credit if a SIM card is purchased.
Smaller tech retail outlet TechPro is also in on the FNO goodies. Proprietor Paul Smith said that he will be slashing prices on computers and accessories by as much as 70 per cent.
“I have laptops from brands such as HP, Acer, Lenovo, MSI, Toshiba and Dell,” said Smith, “and I’ll be slashing prices from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.”
The selections at TechPro also include copiers, printers and desktop computers.
“There’s going to be lots of special prices on printers and copiers from brands like HP, Canon, Kyocera… also, jump-drives and game consoles like Xbox 360, PlayStation III and more…it’s going to be a big blowout sale.”
He, too, couldn’t contain his excitement.
“I’m excited about Fashion’s Night Out, it’s TechPro’s very first year participating and we’re gonna do a 12-hour sale.”
TechPro is located at Shop 31, The Trade Centre on Red Hills Road.
