Alanis Morissette unveils her bump and reveals her shock at the news
She usually lives a relatively quiet life out of the spotlight. But after a very public announcement of her pregnancy to the world, Alanis Morissette has suddenly hit the headlines again.
The mother-to-be and singer was snapped leaving the Chelsea Lately studios in West LA where she was promoting her guest-starring role in the TV show Weeds. Despite being five months advanced, just a shadow of a bump was visible beneath her casual outfit of black dress, cardigan and flip-flops. Still in the glamorous make-up and blow-dry from filming, the glowing mother-to-be looked the picture of health.
The 36-year-old announced her news in an unconventional way, listing it as the final item in a ’25 Things You Don’t Know About Me’ feature in Us magazine. No other details were given at the time, but her interview with Chelsea Handler has revealed plenty of juicy details. The Canadian revealed that the news has come as something of a shock. “I went to the doctor and he said “Well this looks like the scan of a pregnant lady,” Alanis said. Handler asked, “So you obviously went to the doctor because you thought you were pregnant?” “No, actually I thought I wasn’t,” the You Oughta Know singer said. “But I mentioned in passing that I was a bit late, so he said “Well, let’s just take a quick look”. The TV host joked, “So you married a rapper recently and it doesn’t take them long to impregnate women.” Alanis laughed, “That’s right. Immediately actually.” Alanis was previously engaged to actor Ryan Reynolds, but they separated in 2007 after four years together. He is now married to Scarlett Johansson.

Tat you Beyoncé? The singer returns from hiatus sporting heavily inked new look
Beyoncé announced that she was taking a well-deserved break in January, but this week she has returned to the scene with a bang, announcing the release of her new single Why Don’t You Love Me on August 29th, and starring in the new advertising campaign for her Dereon fall fashion line.
The singer is almost unrecognisable in a platinum wig and is covered in stick-on tattoos, and has described the new campaign as ‘1960s pin-up girl meets futuristic biker chick.’ Beyoncé appears to have embraced one of the top trends of 2010: body art. First seen in the Spring Summer 2010 Chanel ready-to-wear show, temporary tattoos have been a hit with celebrities over summer, but in true Beyoncé style, she has taken it to the next level with customised artwork covering her legs, arms and back. The tattoos include chains, spiders, wings, skulls and what appears to be a spine that runs the length of her back. The hard-working Single Ladies singer returned briefly in March to record and film a video for Telephone with Lady Gaga. The epic clip, which was banned from several TV stations for its explicit content, has received over 74.4 million hits on YouTube. Working in the middle of her self-imposed holiday has paid off for the savvy star, as the video has earned her five nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards to be held on September 12th.

Halle looks ‘Berry different’ in new Vogue shoot
She’s played every role from a dowdy young woman in Monster’s Ball to a sexy mutant with super powers in X-Men, and in her latest photo shoot Halle Berry has undergone another dramatic transformation.
The Oscar-winning star’s sleek 1920s-style bob and elfin look are a far cry from the casual mum-about-town style she sports when out with her daughter. The former Bond girl poses in a series of velvet gowns in the striking photos in next month’s Vogue magazine. In the accompanying interview Berry is candid about her break-up from former partner Gabriel Aubry, and says she is optimistic about finding love in the future. They were together for 4 years and had a daughter Nahla, in 2008. Berry, 43, is the first African-American woman to appear on the cover of the iconic magazine’s September issue, which is considered in fashion circles to be the most important issue of the year. The actress has taken something of a hiatus from the public eye with this being her first magazine interview for three years. She did, however, make an exception for Vogue’s September issue. ‘What that means for a woman of colour and what that means in the fashion world, what that means to pop culture, there was no way I could say, “No, I’m not going to be on the biggest issue of the year,” she said.
