UWI, Wisynco on top in Business House Football
UNIVERSITY of the West Indies (UWI) and Wisynco Group are sole leaders of Divisions One and Two in the Western Sports-sponsored Kingston & St Andrew Business House Football Competition.
UWI defeated Norman Manley International Airport 2-0 recently with Kirk Mulling and Nicholas Smith scoring, as they secured their fourth straight victory and move to 12 points. They previously defeated NWC 4-1, JNBS 1-0, and Courts 2-1. Promoted Division Two champion Petrojam are in second place on nine points after defeating favourites Gleaner Company 5-0 with Jotham Watson and Richardo Monroe both scoring twice.
They also defeated Scotiabank Group 1-0 and NWC 2-1. Third-placed Caribbean Cement on eight points, clipped JNBS 2-1, with Rayon Nelson (19th) and Jermaine Rowe (40th) scoring. Kimani Mcpherson got the consolation in the 90th minute for JNBS.
Defending champion Scotiabank Group got their first victory of the season with Nicholas McCreath scoring a hat-trick (25th, 56th and 83rd). Romando Johnson got the consolation for Courts in the 63rd minute. They are in fourth place on four points.
In Division Two, leaders Wisynco Group on nine points, defeated Wray & Nephew 3-0 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. Gervan Brown scored a brace in the 50th and 67th minutes, while Robert Robinson got the other goal in the 60th minute. Second-placed Red Stripe stopped first-time entrant E-Services 4-0 to move into second place on seven points. Tyrone Brossfield scored twice in 71st and 92nd minutes, while Ewan Waysome (75th) and Jermaine Bailey (85th) also scored.
NHT also stopped Jamaica Fire Brigade 4-0 with Ian Edminson, Glendon Johnson, Kevin Lawrence and Andre Palmer scoring.
