Manchester man dies in car crash
Driver slapped with three charges
RICKWORTH Johnson, a 40-year-old labourer of Rosehill, Manchester, died as a result of injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident along the Melrose Bypass in the parish yesterday.
Police said about 2:10 am, Johnson was among four passengers in a Geo Metro motorcar heading towards Porus when the driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole. Johnson died on the spot. The others were taken to the Mandeville Hospital where they were treated and released.
Leon Carter of Woodlawn Road in Mandeville, who was the driver of the motor car, has since been charged with the offences of manslaughter, no drivers licence and no motor vehicle insurance.
The Mandeville Police are investigating.
