Digicel Rising Stars’ host hopefuls
JAMAICA has finally caught a glimpse of the first two Digicel Rising Starsâ host hopefuls as audition shows got underway on TVJ two Sundays ago. Kemesha Bolton and Cameka (Kimone) McRae showed off their hosting skills as they held things down at the May Pen and Portmore auditions respectively but here’s a little more information about the ladies as Jamaica gets ready to choose the next Digicel Rising Stars host.
Kemesha Bolton, who hosted the May Pen audition, is a 24-year-old student from Kingston completing a bachelor’s degree in primary education at the Mico University College. She enjoys dancing, acting and reading. Kemesha started her early education at Excelsior Primary school then went on to Excelsior High then to the Excelsior Community College before going on to the Mico University College. Kemesha proudly points out that this makes her a full-fledged Excelsorian, a fact she’s very proud of.
Kemesha grew up in Nannyville Gardens in Kingston with her mother, grandmother, cousin and uncle. She says growing up in the inner city was tough at times but that also helped her to be resilient: “I don’t think my life has been any harder than any other young person who grew up in the inner city, what makes me different is that I take negative experiences and turn them into positive lessons.”
Kemesha says being one of the Digicel Rising Starsâ host hopefuls is testimony to the fact that everyone can rise above life’s many adversities. “I want other people to get the idea that they too can rise from their difficult circumstances. Everyone has a purpose and we need to, at some point, ask ourselves what that is and do our best to achieve it.”
The other host hopeful which Jamaica saw on Sunday night was Cameka (Kimone) McRae. Cameka is from Kingston but now lives in Portmore. She is a television producer with a communications degree from the Northern Caribbean University. Cameka describes herself as a church girl with spunk who watches television to relax; she also loves sign language which she teaches.
Cameka grew up in Harbour View with her parents and four siblings. She says while growing up she was always known as the trouble maker: “I was also known as the rebel in the family because of my fighting spirit. I’m adventurous and always up for a challenge because of my go-getter personality.” She assures Jamaica that once people get to know her they’ll be glad they did. “I am full of life with a big heart and I’m always trying to make people smile.”
Jamaica now knows a little bit more about host hopefuls Kemesha Bolton and Cameka (Kimone) McRae as they get ready to choose the next Digicel Rising Stars host.
