Nigel Holness appointed Managing Director for FirstCaribbean (Jamaica)
NIGEL Holness has been appointed Managing Director and Senior Coverage Officer for FirstCaribbean International Bank’s operating company in Jamaica. His appointment takes effect from September 1, 2010, subject to regulatory approval.
The Bank’s Executive Chairman, Michael Mansoor, made the announcement yesterday from the company’s Regional Head Office in Barbados.
Holness joined the bank in 1988 as a Customer Service Representative and has worked in several capacities across the bank throughout his more than twenty-year tenure.
These include roles within the organisation’s retail business, and later within Capital Markets, where he specialised in foreign exchange and soft currency liquidity in both Jamaica and Barbados.
Nigel currently serves as the Jamaica Country Treasurer, a member of the Jamaica Country Management Committee and was recently appointed to the Jamaica Pension Management Committee.
His appointment follows the bank’s earlier announcement of the retirement of Clovis Metcalfe, who retires from FirstCaribbean on December 31, 2010. Upon his retirement, Mr. Metcalfe will continue to serve in a consultative capacity and as a Non-Executive Director of the company.
Mansoor noted, “Nigel has already served our bank with distinction. As we continue to roll out our Bank’s strategic vision for the development of this region, we look forward to his contribution and congratulate him on his new appointment.”
