Saints face Tigers in Chedwin Park showdown
Former champions St Catherine Saints will today take on joint leaders Kingston Tigers in the fifth round of the Jamaican Super Cricket League at the Chedwin Park ground.
St Catherine boast national captain Tamar Lambert, who scored a century in his last outing, as well as fellow batsmen Danza Hyatt and Dean Morgan. Their bowling is led by spinners Gavin Wallace and Bevon Brown in the absence of premier wrist-spinner Odean Brown, who is away on West Indies A duties.
Meanwhile, Kingston will be without Nkrumah Bonner who has been called up for the Sagicor West Indies High Performance Centre, while Kemar Marshall is a part of the Jamaica Under-19 training camp. The Tigers can, however, rely on national pacer Andrew Richardson and in-form batsmen Simon Jackson and Brian Latore.
Manchester Lions, who share top spot with Kingston, will visit Port Rhoades Sports Club to face St Ann Cutters in another marquee match-up.
Despite having national swing bowler Krishmar Santokie and strong batting potential in the form of captain Gary Graham, Zeniffe Fowler and Donovan Sinclair, the Lions are expected to be given a stern test by fifth-placed St Ann.
Out-of-favour Jamaican batsman Xavier Marshall and Marlon Pinnock are expected to shoulder the batting responsibilities for the Cutters, while left arm spinners Patrick Harty Jnr and Andre Dwyer, along with lanky pacer Ricardo Dacres lead the bowling department.
Jamaican batsmen Shawn Findlay and Brenton Parchment are expected to feature in the St Elizabeth Warriors team to host a strong Melbourne contingent at the ALPART Sports Club.
The Melbourne Kangaroos can rely on batsmen Donovan Pagon, Marlon Samuels, Carlton Baugh Jnr, along with attacking openers Damion Henry and John Ross Campbell. Their bowling is led by legspinner Damion Jacobs and pacer Jowayne Robinson.
At the Little London Sports Ground, Westmoreland Wizards will entertain struggling Trelawny Buccaneers in the fourth game of the round.
Youth pacer Nicholson Gordon will miss out due to the Under-19 camp, but the Wizards can bank on in-form batsman Nickoy Samuels to get the runs.
