Police raids net 700 rounds of ammo, gun
MORE than 700 rounds of ammunition and one illegal 9mm pistol were seized by the police in separate operations in Alligator Pond, Manchester, and Spanish Town Road in Kingston yesterday morning.
According to the police, about 2:00 am yesterday officers conducted a special operation in the Alligator Pond community, during which a white 1997 Honda Civic motor car with two men aboard was searched and the pistol — bearing serial number TUC 28583, along with a magazine containing fifteen 9mm rounds — was discovered.
The two were subsequently arrested and charged.
In the second incident, detectives from the Flying Squad yesterday morning conducted a special operation along the Spanish Town Road in Kingston, during which 700 assorted rounds of ammunition were seized.
Police said the ammunition was found in an abandoned service station along Weymouth Drive, in the vicinity of Spanish Town Road.
No one was arrested in connection with this seizure.
