5 DIY tips for Dads
82. It’s a good idea to keep a magnet in your toolbox. Use it to find small screws and pins that you’ve dropped.
83. Instead of writing measurements all over the place, keep a small roll of masking tape in your pocket and write down your measurements. When you’re done, tear off what you’ve written and stick it on the project that you’re working on, where you need it (doorframe, window, toolbox etc.).
84. Push a screw through masking tape with the sticky side face up. Insert the screwdriver blade into the screw slot and fold the masking tape up to stick the screw to the blade. This trick is helpful if you have to get a screw into an awkward position.
85. When spraying paint (instead of brushing), be sure to protect everything within close range. Even with little or no breeze, paint particles can carry for quite a distance, which could cost you dearly in the long run.
86. It’s a good idea to have gloves, goggles and any other protective gear before you start a project. You never know when they may come in handy, and power/sharp tools can be dangerous.
