Jaden Smith comes face-to-face with the original Karate Kid
Less than a week after the A-Team remake hit US screens, another updated Eighties franchise got its premiere.
The Karate Kid got its first screening on June 7, at the Mann Village Theatre in Los Angeles, and the original karate kid Ralph Macchio came face-to-face with his 21st Century counterpart Jaden Smith.
Macchio, 48, played Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 movie, which became a huge hit among children and adults alike thanks to its underdog storyline, and the now infamous crane kick used in the final fight. The actor has hardly aged since his starring the role that made him a household name around the globe. He was 22 when he played the bullying victim who became a martial arts champion thanks to his teacher Mr Miyagi and his famous ‘wax on/wax off’ mantra (among others).
Fast-forward 26 years and Hollywood has produced a remake starring Will Smith’s son in the lead role. The entire Smith clan came out to support the young actor. Mother Jada Pinkett-Smith and father Will were present, as was older brother Trey and sister Willow.

German magazine turns Madonna’s daughter Lourdes into a cover girl at 13
She’s already appeared in a video clip and designed a range of clothes: now Madonna’s daughter is a cover girl too.
Lourdes, who is just 13, fronts the July issue of Europe’s Quality magazine looking like a definite star in the making. While it is being touted as her first outing as a cover girl, there is no suggestion she posed for the magazine. But there’s little doubt it is the first of many more covers to come.
Lourdes, who is also known as Lola, has her eyes set on the silver screen and has enrolled in the New York acting school made famous by child star Macaulay Culkin, Scarlett Johansson and Sarah Jessica Parker. The young Kabbalahist is studying at the Manhattan School of Acting and was approached over a year ago to appear in the film The Secret Life Of Bees.

Leona Lewis makes statement about her poor eyesight in bold designer glasses
The singer, who normally opts for contact lenses, cut a stylish but studious figure in the specs, as she arrived in Liverpool to announce that the MOBO Awards will be held in the city.
Hours earlier she was pictured in nearby Manchester shopping for the glasses, after which she then hotfooted it over to Liverpool for the MOBO press conference. There, the former X Factor winner and platinum-selling star announced the location of the ceremony, taking place in October. Lewis, 25, who is an ambassador for the MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards, said: “I’m the proud owner of two MOBO Awards and am delighted to be here in Liverpool as a MOBO ambassador to help commemorate their 15th year. I think Liverpool is the perfect choice for this year’s award ceremony.”
