Fine Living Network to become The Cooking Channel
Lifestyle media marketing company Scripps Networks Interactive replaced its Fine Living Network channel, which is the sister network of HGTV and Food Network, with a new brand called The Cooking Channel last month.
The Cooking Channel will not compete with Food Network; but will instead focus on food information and instructional cooking, according to a news release last month.
Chairman, president and CEO of Scripps Networks, Kenneth Lowe, said in the release that this will be a good investment because: “Food, as a television programming category has grown significantly, creating a highly promising business opportunity for new programming and related ventures that will in effect, super-serve the vast number of media consumers who are passionate about food and cooking.”
The new channel will offer original programming in standard and high-definition formats, along with some food-oriented content from Scripps Networks’ library during the daytime. It will also pick up some Fine Living Network shows that relate to food and cooking, and will carry a programming roster that has exclusive rebroadcasting rights to Martha Stewart Living, The Biggest Loser and Emeril Live! as well as original series such as Wingman and Whatever Martha!, which is hosted by Martha Stewart’s daughter Alexis Stewart.
