Mr Dudus, thanks for my failed investment!
Dear Editor,
I wish to air my disgust with the current civil unrest that has been caused primarily by Dudus.
I do so as a law-abiding citizen, forced to survive in a very challenging period such as this and as a man who came to Kingston in the 70s, found and carved a legitimate path in finding a suitable career, worked hard all my life to make a living, provided for my family and created employment for many.
Handouts from the government or any other for that matter have never been entertained by me in my 50-something years. If one (legal) thing didn’t work, then there was always another way. Obstacles and challenges have always played a very vital role in my entire life journey. Excuses and quitting were never a part of my DNA – no way!
Always trying and getting up again, every time I fall. So when people like the supporters of “President Dudus Coke” decide to attempt to literally tamper with the hardworking, struggling-to-survive business people who have to pay for every utility, while they find time to dress up in white to demonstrate, defend and voice that they will even die for such a cause, it is obvious that we are a very divided country, with different values.
I am a product of the old school. The only thing I’ve ever known as an adult is to work and work, pay my bills and save a little for a rainy day. The reality now is so sad: while you are busy trying to make all the necessary adjustments, like buy what you really need – not want – conserve, praise God and live, your very neighbour could be assessing why you can drive a car and why they are still walking, and before you know it, your face is in the death column described as “died tragically”. Sad, sad, sad!
Mr Dudus, I would like to thank you for a failed investment ($1 million) I should have made in a show. All the benefit performances sold for June are now cancelled because of the tension you’ve caused. People don’t feel safe to leave their homes or go out because of you. I pity you for all the wicked things, but I hope in all of this you find God and His peace.
J Jones
