Don’t let up, PM
Dear Editor,
I wish to appeal to Prime Minister Golding to stay focused and not be distracted by the naysayers. Keep going, PM. There are many people who are with you in this drive to get the guns and rid our communities of criminals, but they prefer to remain silent. However, I will not be silent. Let the army and JCF continue to search the affected communities.
If Opposition members move any no-confidence motion, let it be known that many of us have no confidence in them. Action speaks louder than words. For 18-plus years they never dared to do what is being done now. Ignore them, PM, and go into their garrisons too. Don’t be intimidated or scared by those who try to sidetrack the fight. There are some in your party who may be mad at you for this, but I say that you should “keep doing what you doing”.
They mean you no good as you have decided to “upset the apple cart”. Be bold, like Lot in biblical times. Do not look behind you, Sir. Let the security forces take back our streets so our kids can walk safely, women can feel comfortable in their homes and men are no longer used for target practice.
Prime Minister, you have the chance to go down in history as the one who freed the frustrated and silent in the garrisons. You have the chance to let this moment be one which children can learn about after Jamaica returns to civilised living.
Don’t let up on this fight, Mr Golding, since you have come this far. I know you are hurting and even angry, but stay the course. We are with you and the security forces. Don’t let us down. Give our nation a chance to breathe again after being stifled by criminal elements.
