Pray for gov’t
Dear Editor,
Thank you for publishing Mervin Stoddart’s perspective on the Manatt, Phelps and Phillips issue in his column, “US destabilisation playbook again” on May 15.
Unfortunately, those with the loudest voices in the media are strong supporters of the Opposition party; and so we are not getting balance in what is being reported. If the demands for transparency and accountability were as strident in the past as they are now, Jamaica would have been a much better place to live today!
This matter has been handled very badly by the ruling party; and so it has been allowed to drag on for too long. The truth, however, is that this JLP government has never got a chance to settle down and govern since they came into office. They always have to be fighting fires such as election challenges. They have had constant pressure from local and external forces. Also, I have a conspiracy theory that the homosexual lobby would never have forgiven the prime minister for the strong views that he expressed on homosexuality in the HardTalk interview on the BBC when he entered office.
The government needs the prayers of all those who love Jamaica.
