Jamaicans need unadulterated truth
Dear Editor,
The Dudus extradition saga has only served to bring the JLP to judgement by its own sanctimonous misleading pronouncements before and after the last elections. When Jamaicans see the collective support that the party has thrown behind its leader in the face of the unprecedented wrong done to the Jamaican people, we can only ask, if not Bruce Golding who else? Is Mr Golding’s apology for himself, or for the other strident party officials who 24 hours before declared no problem, no aoplogy, no resignation. I dare say the Jamaican people are expecting, if not some resignations, more apologies. Over to you Mr Vaz, Mr Samuda, Mr Baugh et al.
However, the unadulterated truth that Jamaicans need to know is stated in the middle text of the Bible: “It is better to trust in the Lord, than to put confidence in men” (Psalms 118: 8).
I lament for my country the lament of the prophet Jeremiah: “Oh, that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people! Oh, that I had in the wilderness a lodging place for travellers; that I might leave my people… For they are adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies… they are not valliant for the truth on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know me. Everyone will deceive his neighbour, and will not speak the truth, they have taught their tongues to speak lies; weary themselves to commit iniquity. Your dwelling place is in the midst of deceit… therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold I will refine them and try them; for how shall I deal with the daughter of my people? One speaks peaceably with his neighbour with his mouth, but in his heart he lies in wait. Shall I not punish them for these things? says the Lord. Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?” (Jeremiah 9: 1 – 9).
Please, Mr Golding, the Jamaican people are pleading for honesty and truth at a time when truth and justice are being trampled in the street and the wrath of God is imminent.
