Cleanse thyself at virgin spring
Dear Editor,
Many letters have been written and many voices have spoken about the Manatt, Phelps and Phillips affair. It is well known that there is a great shortage of honesty in Jamaica at all levels – ecclesiastical as well as civil.
Now more than ever, Jamaica needs honesty. Unfortunately, honesty is not a quality or virtue that develops instantly. It is inculcated from childhood, and by example set by parents, schools, churches and the society. Of great importance in the development of honesty is the example set by our leaders, especially our maximum leaders.
In Jamaica, we have fallen woefully short. When we look in the mirror, do we see a liar, a thief, a murderer? We need to look in the mirror and examine ourselves.
Some say that the PM is only human and we must help him rise.
Let us help him rise – escort him to Blue Mountain Peak and let him do penance. Perhaps some virgin spring, gushing from the mountainside, can cleanse him of some of the taint.
It is said that in order to reach the highest heights one must first plumb the deepest depths. The PM has plumbed the deepest depths. In order to reach the highest heights, he must leave the fetid atmosphere in which he now resides.
Leave, Mr Prime Minister, and take those craven, quaking colleagues with you so that they can share in the cleansing process.
