Entire Cabinet must go
Dear Editor,
I have read Minister Vaz´s feeble attempt to defend the prime minister in the Dudus affair which has, in effect, done nothing more than to highlight the PM´s flawed thinking in this matter.
Vaz is quoted as saying that anyone who knows the PM knows that ¨his love for his party¨ is first and foremost. One would have hoped that the PM´s first and foremost concern was in fact his love for his country, although his recent actions have proved Mr Vaz´s comment to be unfortunately a very accurate one.
The PM has no real choice but to resign immediately, assuming that between himself as PM and himself as JLP leader “they” both have any love for Jamaica.
I go further in saying that many people have lost credibility in the entire Cabinet and they should therefore resign post-haste. My reason for saying this is twofold as no one in the Cabinet thought of resigning when Golding “sanctioned” the Manatt deal, and I interpret their silence at that time as complicity. Additionally, all members of the Cabinet have supposedly thrown their full support behind Golding at this time, according to Minister Vaz. They must support either the Jamaican people or Golding, but they cannot realistically support both as the positions are at opposite ends of the moral spectrum.
Jamaica needs a chief servant from the majority of its citizens, and one who will fight to defend the constitutional rights of all – not a man who clearly knows not how to practise what he preaches. Do the honourable thing, Mr Golding, we need to see the back of you and your Cabinet as none of you possess the moral authority to lead us any longer!
