Did he speak the truth?
Dear Editor,
I’ll leave the people to make up their mind whether the PM spoke the truth last Tuesday after this short note.
There are only a few things to consider in this case.
(1) The JLP could not have hired Manatt, Phelps and Phillips because the prime minister would have broken the law in order to give them details of the case.(See the Corruption Prevention Act.)
(2) The documents on the fara.gov website prove that it was the Jamaican government that hired them.
(3) We have no proof that the government did not hire the firm.
(4) If the JLP provide any proof that they hired the firm, that evidence could also be used to prosecute them both in Jamaica and the USA.
So did the prime minister tell us the truth?
