DIY Mother’s Day Gifts
THE air is abuzz with excitement as Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Many of you will wonder which store-bought gift can truly capture the love and appreciation you want to show this wonderful woman on her special day. The truth is, finding the perfect gift in a store isn’t so easy and you run the risk of getting her something that seems clichéd or that she doesn’t really want. Of course she would probably smile and play it off, as though it’s the greatest thing ever, but you know better.
Instead of buying something this year, why not make something that’s really special, unique and just for her? Here are a few little ideas TEENage has to help you get your creative juices flowing.
If you’re ‘camera crazy’, snap away! Take a bunch of pictures of her, you, or both of you acting cute or crazy and create a photo album. You can even create cute captions to go with each picture. Present it to her on the day. That way you both can go through it, and enjoy reminiscing about the ‘good ol’ days’.
If you’ve got a ‘green thumb’ and a garden, then you’re set. Get a vase and cut some flowers. Arrange the flowers nicely in the vase. You can spruce up the look of the flower arrangement by adorning the vase with decorative ribbon and adding colourful glass beads to the bottom to increase its visual appeal. Also, attaching a nice little card would be a plus.
If you know your way around the kitchen, then start cooking. Make her favourite meal or something that she used to enjoy eating as a child but has not had in a while. A good idea to add that extra pizzazz, would be to separate the meal into courses. Make her a personalised menu card, which not only includes what is on the menu but a nice little sentiment you’d like to leave her with.
But rest assured, whether it’s store-bought or hand-made, once it’s from your heart, it’ll be the perfect gift.
