The violation of Dr Heather Little-White is especially heart-wrenching for me because it was only a couple of weeks ago that I inquired about her battle with life after a gunman with one single shot changed her life forever – leaving her to spend the rest of her days in a wheelchair in this dangerous place called Jamaica.

Based on what I was told by her equally famous brother, Lennie Little-White, the famed movie producer, it has not been easy for her. In fact, some of the challenges are really very, very difficult.

This latest attack leads me to wonder how Dr Little-White is still able to summon the courage to tell a reporter that she still wants to help the people of Jamaica after all she has been through over these last many years, including a robbery at her home and now this daring daylight robbery in this most public of places, JoJo’s on Waterloo Road. And as she said in a radio interview, she called out at the top of her voice “Murder! Murder! Thief!” yet no one went to her assistance – no security guard, no police, no one.

There are many people who genuinely believe that if you are destined to die by the gun then you cannot die from drowning and so on, but I sincerely believe that given her condition, Dr Little-White should have somebody accompanying her when she goes out because – maybe she does not realise it – she is a gunman’s dream: she is paralysed, she is a woman and she would have money for shopping or whatever.

I have a word of advice to every person living in this island. Every day that you wake up there is no guarantee that you will live to see the next day, and I can only describe those who carried out that attack on Dr Little-White as evil, devilish, the scum of the earth, cowards, dog-hearted, barbarians, pieces of garbage, pieces of filth, etc, etc, etc.
