Heather symbolises many hard-working Jamaicans
Dear Editor,
I sympathise with Dr Heather Little-White and our country because she is a valuable human being for Jamaica to have, protect and hold. Countless other persons with the kind of expertise and experience have looked at similar situations and said “Bye” long ago, but Heather is hard-working, brave, fearless and a consummate patriot.
From being a founding teacher of Home Economics at the now Green Island High School during the 1970s, she left this country only long enough to get further skills and knowledge then returned to add value.
She could have gone elsewhere into welcoming arms like many others. Jamaica has degenerated into a criminals’ paradise, the land of master criminal executive officers.
The leadership of Jamaica and those directly responsible for curtailing our thriving crime wave seem never to have a response to our present state of increased criminality that has now moved to a higher level.
Heather symbolises many hard-working Jamaicans who go about their daily lives fearing they may become another statistic of murder or some other crime while many others have become crime statistics. We have the notoriety of being not only a vacation paradise but also a murder capital where all free men and women are on death row while those supposedly on death row behind bars are enjoying their freedom with the highest level of security. Jamaica is like a sinking ship: we either all swim or sink together.
