TOI MUS’ BUS
TEENage: Briefly introduce yourself to us
Toi: Toian Gichie, but most people call me Toian
TA: And how old are you?
Toi: I am 18 years old
TA: What do you do?
Toi: Anything that involves music. I’m an artiste, producer and a graphic designer as well.
TA: How did you get started in the business?
Toi: Well, my love for music started from a tender age. My father used to encourage me and I just developed a passion for it.
TA: How are you different to other persons in your field?
Toi: Well, I have my whole style is different; I have my own unique style of music, which is a mixture of R&B, pop and dancehall.
TA: Tell us what your job is like.
Toi: Well, it’s funny, but it is also a lot of hard work. I help produce my music, so it takes a lot of effort and time as well, but I maintain a healthy balance.
TA: Describe your fashion style.
Toi: My fashion style would be edgy but laid back. Not too fancy but not too common.
TA: Do you have any tracks on the streets now?
Toi: Well, now my track Sunshine is out. It’s also on YouTube so people can look that up, and it’s also generating a lot of buzz in music circles.
TA: What projects are you working on now?
Toi: I’m currently working with my production company Calibur Entertainment and doing some work overseas as well.
TA: Where do you see yourself in a year from now?
Toi: I see myself moving forward, taking my music and my career to a next level, as I had always hoped.
TA: Other than music, what do you enjoy doing?
Toi: I love the arts, and anything that involves art. I’m also a graphic designer as well, so when I’m not doing music I’m doing graphics.
TA: How do you balance music and other activities/responsibilities?
Toi: Music is my life, I’m pre-occupied daily with music; when I’m not producing I’m writing, so my music never stops.
TA: What has been your most challenging experience so far?
Toi: My most challenging experience must be in January of 2009 when I was involved in a major car accident. I received a series of injuries including also being paralysed. It was a terrible experience but I battled on and I’m now in my final stages of recovery and can sing about the “sunshine”.
TA: What advice do you have for TEENage readers?
Toi: My advice to TEENs is to never let anything hold you back or stop you from fulfilling your dreams; fight for it. I am a living example of that.
