The Weekly Word
The one who comes to Me, I will certainly not cast out. — John 6:37b
Have you ever sat in church and wondered what God thinks about you? Do you measure up against all your other Christian friends, or do you have too many shortcomings to make the grade?
God said of King David that he is a man of his own heart. For those who are not aware, David was a man of war. He lied, had his good friend murdered in battle and committed adultery.
How could God love such a man, moreover, how could He allow such a person to lead His people? The answer is through grace, not human compassion, but God’s divine mercy, which you cannot earn by your own merit. Easter is a time when we come face to face with the reality of the cross and what the Lord went through for us. By suffering and dying, He erased our guilt and shame. But be warned! This does not give you licence to sin. Remember, the wrong you do will always have consequences. But no sin is so great that it can keep you from experiencing the Father’ s mercy, if you repent and ask for forgiveness. TEENS, the choice is yours!
When God could have, or better yet should have, turned away from you, He chose instead to reach out to you in tender care. His love is stronger than any offence.
To do this week:
Take time to truly thank God for His mercy and His grace, for without them, there is no telling where you’d be.
