Loss Adjusters Association elects president
David McKay, managing director of MSC McKay, was elected president of the Loss Adjusters Association of Jamaica (LAAJ) last month at the association’s annual election of executive officers.
In his acceptance speech, McKay stressed the need to lift the profile of the Association and educate the general public about matters relating to insurance loss adjusting and investigations in Jamaica. He said emphasis will also be focused on bringing about greater efficiency and improved customer service.
The LAAJ functions as the governing body through which organizations in the loss adjusting and insurance investigation businesses collectively set policies and standards for the industry. It also mediates issues between Insurance Companies, members of the public and the LAAJ.
Another important function of the LAAJ is the assistance provided to the Financial Services Commission in relation to regulations governing loss adjustors and insurance investigators in Jamaica. The Association also provides guidance on academic material for the training programs being conducted through HEART and the College of Insurance and Professional Studies.
