Listing mix-up
Dear Claudienne
Global Directories (Jamaica Limited), who prepared the 2010 telephone directory for LIME, incorrectly listed my telephone number as the number for the Centre for Investigation of Sex Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
Soon after the directory was published in the latter part of 2009 I have been flooded with calls for CISOCA night and day.
Two weeks ago at 3:00 am I got a CISOCA call. It is extremely stressful. At 7:00 am, even before I have had my breakfast, the phone has started to ring.
I went to the CISOCA office to make a complaint, but the day I went none of the senior people were there.
Global said that they can’t do anything about it. I have asked them to put a notice in the newspaper but they said nothing could be done about it as nobody would read the notice.
I have also complained to LIME but nothing has been done.
Please see what you can do to help me. I am stressed and frustrated.
SL
Dear SL
When we contacted LIME they offered to change your number. However, Tell Claudienne informed LIME that you wished to keep the number that you have had for an extended period. LIME then said they could put an Interactive Voice Recording (IVR) on your phone number if you agreed.
LIME explained that the IVR recording would come on when your number is dialled and the voice would say: “If you want to speak to CISOCA press 1… If you want to speak to SL press 2.”
So, with the IVR your number would only ring for your calls.
LIME also promised to waive your rental charges until the new 2011 directory is printed with your correct phone number.
We note that you have agreed to accept the IVR and it will be installed shortly.
Good luck.
Dear Claudienne
In October 2008 my sister visited Jamaica from New York. To facilitate her moving about she rented a vehicle. In addition to the rental costs, she had to make a security deposit via her credit card with the understanding that this would be refunded once the car was returned free from defects and there were no other charges.
To date, despite calls from both my sister and me and several e-mails she has been unable to get any redress from the company.
Could you please assist.
RG
The manager advised Tell Claudienne that your sister has closed the credit card account through which she made the security deposit. She said that your sister advised her that she wanted to send someone to collect the money and she told her that she would have to send a letter of authorisation to the company. The person your sister is authorising to collect the refund also must have an ID, the manager said. She said that she is awaiting your sister’s letter of authorisation.
Good luck.
