We take a look at the styling of Brown Sugar, the 2009 winner of Digicel Rising Stars, who stole audience’s hearts with her sultry sound and ever-evolving hairstyles. With a video debut set for release within the next two weeks for her current single Unknown Voices, a compilation CD in the works and other single releases underway, Brown Sugar is certainly on the radar. Get the Look follows the transformation of “the sweet one” out of Montego Bay, who kept fans guessing with her signature blonde coif.

In an interview with Get the Look, Brown Sugar revealed that she entrusts her hair to not one but two stylists: “When I am in Montego Bay I visit Pure Elegance and when I travel to Kingston I go to Dynamics on Constant Spring Road.”

The Rising Star, well known for her blonde wigs and extensions, admits that she is addicted to colour. “I love colour and the reason I chose blonde as my signature colour is because it is bright and vibrant and stands out in a crowd”, she said.

What is your favourite look?

“Hmm…(pause) that’s hard, I love them all, as each look has its own special significance.”

Any hair product(s) you can’t live without?

“I must have Olive Oil Sheen Spray, hair colour and of course my hair extensions.”

She encourages ladies to be imaginative and creative with their style. She said, “Create your own signature style, and do not be afraid to experiment with your hair till you find that look that defines who you are.”
