Snow Hill, Uptown Wailers in 2-2 draw in Portland WU Major League semis
Buff Bay, Portland — Snow Hill held Uptown Wailers to a 2-2 draw in their first-leg semi-final game in the Portland Western Union Major League game at Lynch Park on Thursday.
Snow Hills’ Michael Dennis (13th) and Sterron Wood (48th) were on target, while Brenton Lopez struck a brace in the 13th and 33rd minutes for Uptown Wailers.
Snow Hill started on the attack through Kenrick Rodney, Richard Scott, Michael Dennis and Trevor Burrell, as Uptown Wailers’ Christopher Wilson and Peter-John Bender worked hard in defence.
They countered through Luke Fagan, Lopez, Marvin Fagan, Ryan Willis and Carlington Dodd, but failed to capitalise.
Snow Hill took the lead when Richard Scott’s shot was blocked by custodian Sheldon Howell into the path of Dennis, who made no mistake. This was, however, short-lived as Uptown Wailers equalised from a Luke Fagan corner that found an unmarked Lopez to head home from close range.
Both teams launched a number of attacks and Lopez got his second again from a Peter-John Bender corner, brilliantly with an overhead kick.
The second half saw Snow Hill in attack mode and they had early rewards after they earned a corner and Wood slotted home from close range.
Snow Hill were reduced to 10 players when Jason Mitchell was ejected for his second bookable offence by referee Vern Harris.
