Comfort, Cockpit win three straight in FX Trader Div 1
COMFORT, Clarendon — Comfort FC and Cockpit FC scored identical 1-0 victories over Abassian and Springfield, respectively, on Monday, to lead Zone One of the FX Trader Clarendon Football Association Division One with nine points apiece.
Comfort, who have scored the most goals in the competition so far (eight), are, however, ahead of Cockpit, courtesy of a better goal average. They are the only teams in the zone who are yet to taste defeat.
Springfield, who were losing for the first time after winning two straight, are now third in the group on six points — two clear of Coffalls FC in fourth.
Also on Monday, New Longsville condemned Bailey and Bailey’s to their second defeat in as many starts to replace Rio United as the second-placed team in Zone Two on six points.
New Longsville are equal on points with leaders Spartan FC, but have an inferior scoring record of four goals to Spartan’s seven. Bailey’s, along with Turners FC, now share last place in the zone with no point.
At Treadlight on Tuesday, Treadlight joined Cherry Tree Gardens at the top of Zone Three after a 2-0 blanking of Ebony Stars, who remain at the foot without a point from two games.
In another Zone Three match, Harlem FC and Buckner shared four goals in a 2-2 stalemate at Glenmuir High, while Mineral Heights and Longville Park ended goalless at Mineral Heights in Zone Four.
On Wednesday, Emmanuel Strikers edged Moores FC 1-0 at Green Park Primary in Zone Four, as Coffalls and Mitchell Town ended 0-0 in Zone One.
